Are Individuals Or Companies Responsible For Employee Learning?
The answer, of course, is both. Plus Governments. Companies and Governments have a moral and practical obligation to shape the education & learning environment, so people are well equipped for the future. Individuals, however, are responsible for forming the lifelong habits that enable them to be successful within this system. Changing Our Dialogue with AI
In a recent LinkedIn post, Mindstone's Co-founder & CEO, Joshua Wöhle, calls for a dramatic shift in the way we understand and interact with AI. Josh invites us to reimagine AI not as an infallible system, but akin to a person – capable of errors, possessing areas of expertise, and even prone to 'hallucinations'. He's not equating AI with humans, but rather suggesting that this analogy provides a more practical framework for handling AI responses.
The pivot, as he suggests, could lead to two significant outcomes: (1) We would become more innovative in posing questions to AI and (2) Our ability to evaluate AI responses would be significantly improved. He emphasises that if we continue treating AI as a binary, deterministic system, we're significantly underestimating its capabilities. Are we ready to embrace this paradigm shift?
Insights from the Digital Classroom
A revealing survey from McKinsey, which included more than 7,000 students from 17 countries, illuminates the online learning landscape with fresh insight. A noteworthy trend from the research: students greatly value the flexibility, convenience, and immediate access to study materials offered by online programs. However, not all is rosy in the digital classroom. Concerns around distraction, motivation, and discipline hold many back from committing to fully remote programs. Clearly, the online learning experience has room for improvement to meet student expectations.
Next For Mindstone
🎉 Introducing Evidence Points! 🎉
Last week we released the first phase of something that will transform the way people learn in the future.
Say hello to Mindstone Evidence Points (Beta)!
In this release, we've integrated AI that identifies and captures the skills that can be developed from every article, podcast, or video on our platform. As a novel way to quantify your learning progression, we're introducing Evidence Points (EP) that will reflect your individual journey.
Whenever you engage in a learning activity on Mindstone, including reading, highlighting, or taking notes, you’ll earn some amount of EP (in the particular skills featured in that resource) depending on the quality, relevance, and performance of that activity - you’ll be able to visualise your growth in real-time.
This is the first in a series of major enhancements we're introducing to the platform over the coming weeks, paving the way for an entirely new era of skill development and learning. This is what we've been building towards for the last 3 years, and we're finally able to start bringing it to life.
Good luck as you continue to build your learning habit on Mindstone. Thank you for your support and we’ll see you in a couple of weeks.
